Hugh has been having a problem in his veg garden recently with rabbits! So he enlisted the help of some local hunters to put this pest on to the plate. And with the assistance of the local Women’s Institute, that’s not the only place where rabbit ended up…
The Woodland Trust is offering land you can plant trees on, including fruit trees. More land will be soon be added to Landshare, some of which will also be suitable for growing veg and even keeping livestock.

Landsharing can be much more than about growing veg. In "River Cottage Winter’s On the Way", Hugh met some people who used Landshare to find space to plant trees to help offset their carbon footprint.

Living in an urban space does not mean that tree planting and forest cultivation is beyond your reach, as Clare Ewins has discovered. She has just finished charting her first year of creating an urban forest garden in her backyard. Not only has it provided a scenic garden rich in biodiversity and providing food, it also is a garden that requires much less maintenance than a conventional garden, allowing nature to do most of the work…

More from the National Trust - Forty allotments will be cultivated in a field currently used for livestock adjacent to the visitor car park and Manor House.
Thirty five of these will be allocated to local people and managed via an allotment association with the Parish Council as tenant. The remainder will be managed by the Trust and be used by a wide range of community groups and schools from the area.

The exhibition is open from 6th October 2009 - 7th March 2010.
