Landshare site really works, cool. Thanks a lot for your time and effort to those members who contacted me about how to obtain a plot.
Usually allotment takes time to be in the waiting list. I was suprised after six months of waiting, I got the plot where I can grow my own plants now. To others, please dont lose hope. It could be you next time in the right time and place. Enjoy gardening.

Like many others, I was becoming a bit downhearted as I hadn't been offered anything in response to my grower's request, but then Helen contacted me. Today my daughter and I visited the plots on offer and they are wonderful - some even have herbs and salad already growing alongside the weeds, which will shortly be cleared to make room for some veg.
Thanks Landshare and thanks Helen, I know this is going to be the start of something good. You are both stars.

Well done Landshare, an area of land at the bottom of my garden, recently cleared of years of accumulated rubbish - timber, bricks, tiles, old windows and doors - has been "snapped up" by an enthusiastic young couple who live only three minutes walk away, but have only a postage-stamp sized garden. They can't wait to start growing their own veg and sharing it with me! Brilliant scheme, well done Hugh and everyone on the Team.

Thanks to all the Landshare team for their inspirational idea and hard work to get this program up and running. The allotment waiting list was a waste of time and I wasn’t moving anywhere fast. After finding an owner with a garden about 6 weeks ago, I have managed to clear the bramble jungle and dig over a nice size plot. The spuds are already over 2 foot tall and shallots, onions, chillies and courgette are racing away! I am loving having a space to grow and the owners are excited by the progress. I can’t wait to try some of my first organically grown veggies! To all those out there looking for a match, this is a great scheme and in time I hope you are all as lucky as I have been. Thank you!

Thank you Landshare for introducing me to my "growers" who dug up my unloved lawn 3 weeks ago. I was never an enthusiastic gardener but now really look forward to inspecting progress every day.

My neighbour heard I was wanting grow veg but didn't have enough land so has given me and hubby 1/4 acre to use!! How lucky! It's just across the road so getting there is no trouble. We just watch out to see if they've got family round so that's when we don't go over. We've also cultivated the scrub land and dumping ground at the end of the road - lots of fruit trees growing there now and a community of friends helping out. What a brilliant idea this all was. Well done Hugh.

Our patch of rather scruffy ground at the back of the house is, as I write, being turned into a vegetable garden by an enthusiastic family team. Success!

My family and I have found a little slice of heaven just a mile away from our 'townie' house, - thanks to Hugh and the team and MOST importantly our very generous landowner and his family - they are lovely and wonderful - and we have started digging today!!!! Our 3 year old had georgous rosy cheeks today from runnig around in the fresh air - for the first time since last summer holidays. We all feel wonderful. I still can't believe a dream has come true. Not only will my husband and I learn new skills but I hope our two little girls will discover a bit of independence and freedom!!!

I have visited a site today that the landowner, my family and another family will be growing veggies on! We are very excited!!! We are meeting as a group next week to discuss the finer details, and go over contracts. Landshare is a fantastic idea and I cant wait to get dirty and start growing.

Excellent!!! Got a landowner contact, been to see plot. Wonderful place. Already planning even though we haven't sorted out a contract! But I am optimistic and so is my contact. Raring to go. Also had another person contact me concerning allotments in my area. So things looking good. Congrats to Ch4 and Hugh for this initiative. OK, it's a 30-40 min. drive...but a plot is a plot. and everyone's happy. Even got a source of goat milk, meat, and a source of beautiful free range eggs. Now just need to get friendly with the local gamekeeper for a supply of rabbits, hare, pigeons, etc. I already get my own trout and other fish. And when the season arrives...mushrooms.
Fantastic!
Thanks Tim and Wendy...Landowners.

Spring sees new life in the garden and the potential for us to put some real life and character back into this large country garden, thanks to the great responses via The Landshare Scheme!
Our neglected paddock could soon be ploughed and planted by a "man that can" with expertise and knowledge to help us go forward with our vision. We are also keen to involve community groups and special needs working plots within the paddock and wallled garden, with a focus on horticultural therapy and sensory planting.
Potentially a great way of gardening for all, bringing friendships, fresh air, fitness and decent food!
Enjoy!

Thank you Landshare. I have been extremely lucky to be matched up with a very generous couple living in the same town. We exchanged contracts this weekend and I aim to get started this week. Great opportunity.
It would be very interesting to be able to follow other peoples progress through the blog! Would it be possible to add a section for photos, accounts etc?

Success. Two days after posting here that we were looking for a plot around Poole, Dorset. We made contact (via Landshare) with a charming local lady with a slightly overgrown large garden, and two nice cats. Arrangements were swiftly made over tea, and we start clearing the ground Monday. It's going to be a good project for all.
Thanks, Landshare. This concept really works.

We were contacted by a very nice lady soon after posting our listing who came to see our garden this morning. I'm delighted to say that she's going to share our overgrown patch and we're going to grow veg and fruit together. We have had other enquiries from growers which we had to turn down so I hope they find somewhere soon. This is such a wonderful scheme!

After only a couple of days from posting the listing ,we were contacted by a very pleasant lady. She has now met us and enthusiastically agreed to take on our rather overgrown plot of land.Signing up to Landshare must be one of the best things we have done, our bit of Lancashire will soon be productive. Thank you, to every one involved in this great scheme.

I haven't seen anyone local yet and think I'll go out and have a scout for land this weekend who knows it might be lucky! Tricky in London though, lots of allotments were taken to make way for the Olympics near me

We in Central London have our eyes on a 3 acre
plot left empty by greedy property developers
who have gone bust. We are lobbying local councillors
to see of we can just have temporary use of the land (in
grow bags if necessary) till they start work.

Landshare & the River Cottage series inspired me to contact our local water company to see if a small plot of land adjacent to our village water tower could be used as a community garden...legal doc's have now been signed and the keys delivered last week. (I now have to drum up support and sort out whare to start!)....I hope to get some more land in the future for goats and more growing space, and to start some sort of food produce sales in our small village. Thanks Hugh and the team...and good luck everyone out there!

I`m out here in South America and madly envious of what`s happening with Landshare. It`s the best project ever. Brilliant Hugh and Channel 4. I hope everyone gets their dream answer. Autumn and lower temperatures are very late here. Climate change is messing things up. I can`t plant oregano, basil and rosemary seeds until the temp. has dropped to 60 degrees F. and below. Wouldn`t know how to begin to plant veg in hot sand! Happy, happy gardening and rain and shine in right measures.
