We need to increase the bio diversity of our land and the types of crops and flowers we grow, look at the plight of the british bees and you have a clear indicator of the lack of diversity. I would hope though that any land offered would be handled organically, after all there is much research to suggest that the widespread use of chemicals on agricultural land has played a huge part in reducing the bio diversity of our native wildlife. I think this is a good idea and i would support it. If people have access to land it would enable more people to connect with the land and hopefully then respect it more.

If we are to be a successful community, in whatever area, we must realise the benefits of being self-sufficient to any degree. Community growth and spirit is at an all time low and any reason for people to get together and share skills, experiences and knowledge can only be a good thing. We are all losing basic skills, we socialise far less and our connections with nature have dwindled. An allotment or a Community Garden is an excellent way to bring people together, and a great way to keep down the food bill. It also gives your body a good workout, saving you paying for gym membership! I am currently working on a Community Garden Project in Shaw, near Oldham, but finding a suitable plot is proving to be very challenging. Local councils and the CRE should be working to gether to provide such places for people to create allotments, community gardens etc. I am learning to basket weave and would love to have somewhere to grow my own willow, but I run into the same problems. Leave your thoughts here, and support the release of more land.
