    Hello,
I am a 34yr old builder, looking for 4+ acres of land in the Abingdon area,To set up a small holding producing rare breed pigs and chickens/ducks. My dad and I already have 2 allotment plots on which we grow our own veg organically. But I would love to have my own meat and eggs for my family, friends and to sell at local farmers markets. As its been a dream of mine for a long time to be as self sufficient as possible and to bring my son up with an understanding and appreciation of where our food comes from and how its produced. Cheers.

Looking for some space in or near Haverhill

Posted by jonathanwendell on 22 November 09

My father is 69 years old and has been growing his own fruit & veg for all my life (47 years) and beyond, and has had an allotment for at least the last 35 years. My parents are in the process of moving from Somerset to central Haverhill and there is a long waiting list for allotments in the area. He would still dearly love to grow his own produce once he has moved and I would help him (I live in Haverhill too).

    looking for grow-space

    Posted by womble73 on 22 November 09

hi all, Im in search of extra space to grow fruit and veg on / in.
I live in a terraced house with a very small amount of growing space. My neighbours kindly let me use their garden area as a small veg plot. I also keep a raised bed garden on top of an WWII air raid shelter. I have been raising my own crops (a portion of them ) for about 6 years now, and have mixed experiences of success in growing most vegetables.

    Act 4 kidz garden

Posted by niki pitt on 21 November 09

Hi I am the founder and chair person of a voluntary group called act 4 kidz. I have an idea that i can only put into action with the help of others, and that is to start a garden for people with additional needs in ely or surrounding villages. Act 4 kidz has so far a music group, messy play and plans for a saturday club are in action. The garden club would be fab but would need to be suitable for wheel chair access. If anyone has any land or would be intereasted in helping out at all i would love to hear from you.

    Passion but with a disability

Posted by windsorman on 21 November 09

    Hi
I would love to grow my own fruit and veg as me and my son (8) dabled with it in our garden, and have now taken on an allottment.
I have a disability that makes it very difficult to stand...even harder on uneven ground so the allotment is a real challenge!
My main problem is that before i took over the allotment it had been left for 2 years...I need to get it back to dirt and then i can start fitting raised beds
As a complete newbie i also need any advice on the best way to set it out, what grows best with what....i think its called companion growing as i dont really want to use sprays.

    Thank you in advance
