    Plots available in Wrexham

    Posted by owners2395 on 02 November 09

    Hi,
I initially have 2 plots available approx 25m x 10m. It is currently VERY overgrown (brambles...ech!), an excellent project for the Winter (cheaper than gym membership too!). Access is through my own garden, but available during the hours of 7.30am and 10pm. Water supply would need to take the form of a water butt (the land is bordered by a river......please be aware this could pose a potential flood risk. It has only flooded once in 20 years of living here but I need to warn you of the potential risk at the outset). There is a shed which could easily be made secure for storage (on high ground). The land is not open to the public. I would prefer it was utilised by individuals rather than groups with access being through my property. Would be happy to consider bee keepers as well as growers!

We have a garden near Keynsham/Corston and would like to meet others who are really keen on organic gardening, green issues, arts maybe, and would like to see a garden really happily enjoyed by team work...with small projects to manage and share. Also some hens.
It is a peaceful space and and only right for certain people who share what we are doing, so we would want to meet for tea first and discuss.
Excellent project for keen persons, and perhaps retired, and postively inputting gardeners.... like Carol Klein on Gardeners world !!

    GardenShare Bristol

Posted by gardensharebristol on 30 October 09

    Aims:
The aim of this project is to link up Bristol residents who have under-used garden land, with people who would like to use it to grow fruit or vegetables. We also offer gardening advice.

    What we are doing:
We provide a ‘dating’ service that matches gardeners with garden owners in Bristol. We do this on the basis of compatibility and local proximity. We also interview and vet the people who want to take part, and make sure that the gardens meet certain criteria — for instance having suitable growing soil and access without going through the house.

To make sure that there are no misunderstandings, both parties will be asked to sign an agreement that defines clearly what they expect of one another. We will provide a standard contract that defines the agreed hours of access, whether tools may be stored on-site, what proportion of the produce will be given by the gardener to the garden owner, and so on. But each agreement is between that gardener and that garden owner, so they can change the wording to say whatever they agree between them.

We put people in touch — the agreement they reach between them is up to them. But the experience of other GardenShare schemes across the UK is that it is good for both parties to be completely clear about what they are committing to do. For example, what seems to work well is that the gardener gives the garden owner around a quarter or a fifth of the produce grown.

    How to Get Involved:
If you have some spare garden land, or would like to grow your own fruit or veg locally, please reply to this listing.

Smallholding needs help - veg in return

Posted by NB Acres on 25 October 09

We are setting up a smallholding 4 miles from Banbury. Has good road access and adjacent to the Oxford Canal.

We breed rare breed pigs, have chickens, duck & geese.
There is already a large vegetable garden and another large area which would be suitable.
We are happy to provide the seeds, tools, greenhouse space and water. In return you can have the veg that you need for your family and we have the surplus.
Let us know if interested and what time you have to spare.

Lodge Farm Allotment, Forest Road, Loughborough

Posted by glebehouseproject on 21 October 09

We are a local long-standing charity supporting adults with learning disabilities and we have just aquired an allotment at Lodge Farm, Forest Road. It needs LOTS of work and has problems with waterlogging so we will be putting rasied beds in. This is a mammoth task but we'd like our allotment to involve the local community. Are you interested in working with us, supporting adults with a learning disability or helping to develop the site. Are you another community group that wants to work with us or an individual who wants to be more invovled and/or busier? We'd love to hear from you!

I live between Keighley and Skipton and have a very large garden. Most of it is to lawn but I would have no objection to someone using part of it to grow vegetables, fruit etc. In return they could also look after some flower beds for me.

    Garden Available Near Blaenavon

Posted by JJJ on 15 October 09

We have just moved into our first house which has a large garden area but we are not really gardeners ourselves so after hearing about landshare we are considering letting someone else make the most of it. The main garden is lawn at the moment and is on a slight slope so I'm not sure how suitable it would be for vegetable growing but maybe it could be levelled somehow, there's also a flat bit at the top? It is up behind the house (we are at the bottom of a hill) and you get to it up concrete steps so someone with mobility problems may have trouble. There would be side access through our garage (which has electric power points) with a key for security and there's an outdoor tap in the yard outside the house. There's usually parking space in a layby outside the front of the house. All we would want in return is some help with keeping the garden in some sort of decent shape and a few veggies if it's possible to grow them. We both work from home so would be in most weekdays, access any time after 12pm would be best.

learner grower needs help to make best use of garden

Posted by ecco on 15 October 09

    Hello all,
I live on an estate but have good sized garden and want to make best use of space. I have made a start but am not entierly sure of what i am doing.
A grower/helper would be welcome once a week more if needed but i can follow care instructions.
There is easy road access, a water supply and storage for tools and I would be willing to suply equipment. The land is not open to the public and i think my space would be best suited to an indervidual or a very small group.

Weybridge non gardner with a friendly home and garden available

Posted by SRADLEY on 14 October 09

OK I will just go down the listing criteria I am not too good with these things...

How often can a grower come? Whenever they want
Is there access from a public path or road? Yes
Is there access to water? Umm yes in the pond but if needed I am sure an arrangement can e sorted out for water supply...if needed I have a water catching tank too...I think..
Is there storage for tools? Yes
Is this land open to the general public or for a particular group i.e. employees only? Its my home no one else has access
Is this land suitable for a community group or an individual? depends on what kind of community... references and addresses must be supplied and proven...

I am a very hard working and very hard travelling person I do not have time to give the garden the attention it needs and deserves..and if I can get some veggies and fruit from it as a payment GREAT!!

We have a large garden with space to grow veg but not the knowledge or ability to get started at the moment. A grower would have access to everything he/she needs. We would be interested in only growing organic produce. We already have 4 apple trees, 1 pear, 1 cherry (birds always get fruit first), and 3 blueberry (same as cherry). Green house also located in area of plot. At present, the plot is laid to grass so digging up would be required.
