I would suggest some netting around the brasiccas.

Netting is always the best way, but it can be expensive.
Try using the plastic bags that supermarkets still give away.
Cut them into strips and tie onto wires or garden twine.

I'm thinking of two suggestions, one being a plastic owl or similar which can be used as a detterent just needs to be moved about a bit, search in google for them available for around £20. Or stake up some fishing line or similar and criss-cross it and then tie on white streamers which should put them off

i did grow collies but they stopped growing so i pulled them up and open the stalk up and found it was dead with a maggot sort of thing in it any idea what it is and how to stop it in the future ?

this is not a question this is a solution. i have found this fly that will kill green/black and the other small flys that harm our plants the good thing is that this fly is native to england so will not harm innocent flies so in my eyes well worth it

What killed my prunus trees? No other plants affected. Growing asparagus successfully in soil. Went into hibernation: failed to wake up in the spring. quite young the trees and one of them a little ill,but no signs of infestation. Was it a virus?
