does anyone know what plants can live together i had a idea of growing my lettuce near my peas as peas grow up, does anyone know what other plants could live near or next to each other as i only have a small part of the garden and pots to grow in

  • Get yourself a book on 'Companion Planting'. As the person belowe says, it is not just about what grows well together but also about what doesn't! some plants will increase the ylied of another, or offer protection frm pests, but some will have the exact oposite effect.

  • onion family next to carrots is good as deters carrot root fly - I grow shallots, spring onions and chives (all good for containers as take up smaller space) in pots next to one another - just don't put onions next to legume family (beans, peas etc...)

  • Carrots potatos swede and sweetcorn can be grown next to peas lettuce is all right but do not grow any of the onion family next to them.
