grower
I'm hoping I can get growing via Landshare as allotment lists are very long. I've only had a little experience so would share with other growers or work a plot myself. I'm happy for that to be an allotment or garden, I don't mind. I'm a good worker and willing to work with others. I'd like to grow vegetables and salads.
Thanks, Shaz
Hi Paul,
Sharon again. I've just been reading an excellent website - www.growsheffield.com - and on it is a group called 'Abundance', also based in Sheffield. They harvest urban fruits to giveaway. Between these two groups is a marvellous 'links' section, thay may have just the organisation you need to help you keep your allotments. As Sheffield is the next town to Rotherham, I wouldn't be surprised if that group themselves, or someone they could put you in touch with, could help.
Again, good luck.
Sharon
Hi Paul,
I lived in Masbrough some years ago and used to walk my dog up around the Clough. I have fond memories of it. I always used to enjoy walking down the field by the allotments and looking over to them. I was wondering if you've had any luck with your landshare query yet? The only things I can suggest is to search for the national allotments society website - I know I've seen it once or twice - and ask them. I know councils have obligations to the public where allotments are concerned. Perhaps you could go to The River Cottage website and ask them too? Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall seems passionate about this issue.
Good luck,
Sharon
