I don't have a garden of my own and I have completely filled my poor boyfriend's small garden with edible plants of various descriptions. There is no more space. I am on a very long waiting list for an allotment. I am very happy to share some responsibilities with someone else and share the produce. I am slightly disabled but I am quite well some of the time and I am very good at delicate jobs like pricking out.
Yes they were quite newly planted. I did give them all mulches of cocoa shell. But although i have a sandyish soil, plants that need a lot of moisture do well in my garden. One was an unknown small thing, possibly bird cherry, one was a "czar" and one a Morello cherry. They were all staked. I am worried that if it a disease it could spread to my other trees.
If it is just budding, I am sure it will be fine to eat, but I would pitch the tips, of the ones you are not eating, out. Are all your herbs flowering? Conventional wisdom says that herbs have their best flavour just before they flower but I found it has made little difference with my basil, coriander, mint etc. So eat away...
