i use my chicken drooping to manure by plots i know exactly where the food come and know it is safe to use if u know have local free range chicken farms see them as they dont use weed killer the chickens keep everything weed and moss free

In response to I'm weighing up the pros and cons of manure v green manure e.g. growing sorrel or mustard etc and digging it in, however does anyone have any information on aminopyralid contamination of manure? I think it comes from a weedkiller.

i find that u use a decent compost with a slow reease food added to it they dont need feeding but you can get poatoe food from most garden centers.

i normally harvest my potatos after they have flowered as and when i need them as they keep better

In response to i have tried growing potatoes in potato bag forfirst time this year. They have grown quite tall..do i need to feed them at all? When can i harvest them? (do they need to flower?)

im of the same opintion that 2 or 3 can be classied as pets they make no more noise or mess then a few rabbits or gunie pigs chicken arks and houses are bout the same size as hutches o no neighbours cant really complain..... 2 of my local pet shops sells chickens so they must be pets lol

In response to I'd like to keep some chickens.If you are a home owner you can keep them.But as a council tenant(12yrs) I am not allowed as they are classed as livestock.I want to persuade them change this Any ideas?

mysef and some nighbours are in a simulier situation, there is a old law in place where the the local councils have to supply land to the public to grow foosstuffs if your self along with 6 people request land and you make the sujestion of the place im sure they would consider it. if you have a local comunity couclier or or project workes i would sujest the use of the land to them soon and they could help push for to get it . Add sujestions of how it woould impove the look of the area and bring membes or of the community togethe along with the fact that the council could charge a small rent for the land.

In response to hi the garden flat next to us is vacant and the garden outgrown. we think it belongs to the council . how can we convince them to let us use it to grow veg? Thanks!
