its garlic tincture time me thinks, i have rescued the following with this, sunflowers, tomatoes, hostas, elephants ears, lettuce, boil up two garlic heads the whole thing,in a pan with water,i do this about 4 times for economic reasons, then dilute the tincture in your watering can with water, lots of it. it is brilliant, we should always remember whenever we plant out a slug will think its for him so, new plant in one hand garlic tincture in the other, how many potential gardeners have been snookered at the first fence by these blighters.
asparagus soup and toast, a meal we had in a posh restuarant once as a child in southport, don't know if i overdramatised the taste or whether it was a really cold day, but i have never tasted anything so lovely, wouldn't know where to begin making it.
ive got lettuce growing in an hanging basket it was started off in the propagator.jist follow my instructions for the garlic treatment of slugs, they love lettuce.
In response to can i grow lettuce outside or has it got to be in the greenhouse
boil up 2 heads of garlic, do this about 3 times to get your moneys worth, use the juice diluted with a large water can filled with water, douse the leaves of your loved plants ant the slugs with emigrate, i have saved so far with this method, 6 sunflowers, an hosta which they love.......... and my tomato plants which are also a favourite of theirs.
have been very successful with gardeners choice tomatoes, first time, and the instructions always say pinch out the side shoots, so have been experimenting with different leaves to pinch out, the instructions also say when there are 4 sets of tomatoes start pinching out top leaves as apparently they shouldn't grow too tall. all very interesting. good luck.
